A Rocky Point food pantry is hoping to reopen after a problem with the boiler resulted in the building filling with smoke on Monday. Long Island Lending a Helping Hand provides food, diapers, wipes and clothing to families in need. The founder says there was no damage to any of the items inside the pantry and hopes to resume operations Thursday.

One pantry client says the organization’s help is essential to her family.
