After what was a much nicer day with varying amounts of clouds, this evening remains nice, with temperatures in the low to mid-60s and some more clearing of clouds through the night. Enjoy!

There will be some patchy areas of fog overnight and into Wednesday morning under a partly cloudy sky with low temperatures - cool and comfortable - in the upper 50s. Use caution traveling if you encounter any fog overnight.

While there can be a brief couple of rain sprinkles on Thursday and a passing shower or two Friday night into very early Saturday, the next best chance for any steady rain is still Sunday.

Long Island will likely be on the edge of steady rain. As of now, I would plan on a wet day with up to 1 inch of rain possible, but there is still a chance the rain tracks more south and east, which would lower the amount of rain Long Island gets on Sunday. Stay with News 12 for updates, but also know that this will not be anywhere close to a major storm like we experienced last weekend, thankfully.

We will experience a warm-up through the end of the week. Wednesday and Thursday, highs will be in the mid-70s. The normal average high temperature here on Long Island this time of year is 70 degrees. If you are still trying to hold onto summer weather, you will like how it feels on Friday, with high temperatures mostly in the upper 70s to lower 80s. All three of these next days will also be dry, with a mix of clouds and sun, except for a slight chance of more clouds on Thursday, along with a brief shower.

FRIDAY: Sun and clouds. Warmer. Highs around 78 degrees. A passing rain shower is possible at night. Lows near 60 degrees.

SATURDAY: A couple of rain showers possible in the early morning. Otherwise, breaks of sunshine with highs around 68 degrees. Lows near 54 degrees.

SUNDAY: WEATHER TO WATCH - There is a chance for more weekend rain on Sunday. It would not be a multi-day major storm like this past weekend's Nor'easter, thankfully, but another inch or so of rain cannot be ruled out at this time. This may still change for the better and stay mostly south and east of Long Island, so stay with News 12 through the week for updates on this next steady rain chance. Highs around 66 degrees. Lows near 53 degrees.

Beyond the coastal impacts of this past weekend's Nor'easter, the wind knocked down more than 1,200 trees across Long Island, and 4 to nearly 7 inches of rain fell across much of the island, too. Thankfully, the storm is behind us, and nicer weather is on the way, but storm cleanup continues for many Long Islanders through the week.
