A Westbury man is facing a slew of charges for a violent attack that took place inside a New Cassel home on Thursday night, according to police.
Detectives say Ernest Naranjo, 22, entered the residence on Covert Street and “caused a disturbance with a 21-year-old female victim.”
They say the situation escalated when he bit her lip, briefly left the home and re-entered by kicking in the front door.
He then pointed a gun at the woman and hit her with it before fleeing the scene on foot, according to police.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to have her injuries treated.
Officers found Naranjo near the intersection of Union and Linden avenues. Following a short chase, he was caught and taken into custody.
Police say a loaded Colt. 25 handgun was recovered by officers at the scene.
The charges against Naranjo include assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, criminal mischief and aggravated criminal contempt.
