Residents in Island Park say some streets along the water can see major flooding during nor’easters.

Water can rise a couple feet in some areas prompting residents to raise their houses, move their cars, and prepare for the worst.

One resident says this has been a problem for decades.

“Fingers crossed it doesn't get too bad, but usually it comes up very high,” said Joseph Suhovsky. “I've lost a car before. My RAV4 got flooded a few years ago.”

Another resident says the water didn’t recede all the way after this morning’s high tide, and that means flooding could be worse this evening.

High tide is just before 8 p.m.
