A Suffolk County school district is warning parents about students being approached at bus stops in the area on Friday.
Central Islip school officials notified residents on Monday that an unknown individual went up to children and repeatedly said, "Come with me."
The incidents happened at two separate bus stop locations along Joshuas Path on Oct. 2 and allegedly involved an older dark-skinned male.
The Suffolk County Police Department was notified of the reports and is investigating, the district noted in their community alert.
Both students removed themselves from the situation and were not harmed physically, school officials say.
News 12 has reached out to police for more information and are waiting to hear back.
In light of these incidents, the district is reminding parents to review personal safety practices with their children.
“The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these important safety messages at home and encourage you to speak with your children about what to do if they encounter a stranger or experience any situation that makes them uncomfortable,” the school statement read.
