A man is accused of attacking another man with a hammer at a McDonald’s in Elmont early Monday morning.

According to detectives, Javier Antonio Lopez, 45, of Floral Park, began acting erratically and engaged in an altercation with an 18-year-old male victim.

A 59-year-old man intervened in the fight and that’s when Lopez hit that victim multiple times with a hammer, injuring his head and hand.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. at the restaurant located at 1420 Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau police say.

Both victims were taken to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Lopez will face charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon when he is arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
