The commute into the city is moving more smoothly after falling debris shut down lanes near the George Washington Bridge on Wednesday.

All lanes to the bridge are now open after debris fell from the ceiling onto a westbound lane of the Cross-Bronx Expressway just after 8 a.m.

The incident forced closures to the lower level of the bridge, creating major delays for drivers heading home.

Debris reportedly fell onto a car and one person was hurt and taken to the hospital according to the FDNY.

Overnight crews made temporary repairs, and the Port Authority said the lower level reopened around 2 a.m. Drivers may still see some residual delays.

You might remember the viral video from a week ago when debris came crashing down onto a car.

The car was damaged but somehow the driver was not hurt.

This was also on the Cross Bronx Expressway, just before the George Washington Bridge, but said to be in a different area.

Officials say the cause of the falling debris remains under investigation.
