Freeport superintendent reinstated after being placed on leave
A Nassau school superintendent previously accused of mismanaging district funds is set to return to the job.
The Freeport Union Free School District voted to reinstate Fia Davis, who has been on paid leave since last April.
The board sued her in February, alleging she misled officials about when she would earn her doctorate, spent $100,000 in district funds on renovating her office and gave the contract for the job to a friend.
News 12 asked the district if it dismissed the suit and is waiting to hear back.
Davis will return as superintendent on Aug. 3.
