Six people were transported to the hospital after a crash in Islip Thursday night.

The Islip Fire Department and Exchange Ambulance of the Islips responded to the call for a motor vehicle crash with possible heavy rescue at Union Blvd. and Islip Ave.

Suffolk police tell News 12 a 2004 Buick sedan and a 2023 Honda sedan collided at the intersection around 9 p.m.

Upon arrival, rescuers encountered multiple injured patients and a trapped driver in one of the vehicles.

Islip fire crews used a Hurst tool to cut the victim from their car to then be taken by EMS to be treated at the hospital.

Both drivers, a 57-year-old Commack man and a 74-year-old Islip man, along with their four adult passengers were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
