Let's bring in Mike Rizzo now. We're bracing for the rain. It looks kind of ugly here this weekend, and this is the pattern we have, Nick. You know, it's stuck unfortunately. So showers are just going to be here and hanging out for the next couple of days. Let me show you on the big screen here what we're looking at as this disturbed weather completely detached from the jet stream is just hanging out, and that is allowing a stream of moisture and warmth to come into New Jersey, hence why it feels a little bit like summer right now. Once this system gets unstuck by midweek next week, it gets picked up by the jet stream and continues to move across the world. But unfortunately it is just stuck right now. And that means tomorrow we have 80 degrees in sunshine. It actually could get up to 85 in some spots because it could be super sunny. But by 3 o'clock, that's where we're going to see some showers and storms pop up. Then come Sunday, 75 degrees, mostly cloudy with bursts of rain that come in and out of the area, pretty much. All day long. I want you to be aware that this pattern is not going to break Monday, Tuesday either, so we're going to still see that risk for showers. When you see that 10 day forecast, it doesn't look too pretty, and I'll show you in a second. Rogue showers this afternoon, maybe a quick rumble of thunder in South Jersey, 63 degrees tonight, damp and mild for sure, a soupy start to the morning tomorrow, feeling like summer rather than spring, but hey, that's typical spring weather. We're in between both seasons, so you get a little bit of both, right? Here's a look at Saturday afternoon showers. storms pop up central and northern New Jersey after 3 o'clock, and I think there's a chance for Ocean County to kind of graze without any rain tomorrow afternoon. So there's going to be some spots in New Jersey that are not going to see showers or storms, but I do think that if you live in central and northern New Jersey, you have a better risk of seeing some stuff come through, especially right when the sun sets as thunderstorms sets its course for us here in New Jersey. Come Sunday, we'll have on and off bursts of rain under a cloudy sky. Temperatures are In the mid 70s and as we get into Monday, essentially it's the same thing, still unsettled, more midday thunderstorms taking hold, and of course the humidity takes its toll, and that's why we're seeing this type of pattern here going into early next week too. Monday, Tuesday, 70 degrees to get into Wednesday, it looks like the last of the rain will be in the morning and wrapping up, and then we'll end up with a better weather pattern as we head toward the end of the following week. But this weekend and next week, of course, you could enjoy the daytime period, but after 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Consider turning in if you see those big puffy clouds. Yeah, so it's gonna disrupt some plans here, no doubt this week.

Montclair restaurants see uptick in outdoor dining business amid warmer temperatures

And with the weather warming up now, businesses are taking full advantage of outdoor dining laws that appear here to stay. News New Jersey's Naomi Yane reports tonight from Montclair. Sidewalk cafes once a very European thing. Now a permanent fixture here in the Garden State, and not only do patrons love it, but so do restaurateurs who say it's great for their bottom line. Thank you, Valerie. This is the first time we've been out this, uh, this season, and tis the season it is for outdoor dining. Montclair restaurants were abuzz with patrons enjoying their meals and of course the warm weather. So and I actually said I wanna go somewhere where we can eat outside. I specifically said outside, so. I love it and I think it's a great idea when when restaurants set up outside COVID-19 outdoor dining permissions were set to expire in November of 2024. Governor Murphy signed the bill making outdoor dining permissions permanent for restaurants and certain alcoholic beverage retailers and manufacturers to conduct business within designated outdoor spaces or. Public sidewalks and that's been a lifeline for businesses. Once you introduce that extra seating outside that easily doubles revenues a very strong online because of COVID, and then after COVID, the outside will up even more, so we're very fortunate to survive it, very lucky. The legislation also allows for the continued use of fixtures. Like tents, canopies, umbrellas, and tables and chairs. There's one good thing that came out of COVID, I guess. People can dine outdoors and really take advantage and enjoy that. Now before the COVID-19 pandemic, municipalities had their own rules about outdoor dining, but since then it's here to stay in Montclair, Naomi, News, New Jersey.

Today is all about the kids with the New York Red Bulls. It's their 3rd annual Weather Education Day hosted by News Twelve's Lauren D. Here's a look at the fun. Welcome to Weather Education Day with the New York Red Bulls hundreds of 1st through 5th graders learning about weather with a soccer twist, like how players adjust to a rainy environment or hot temperatures. Even the soccer ball pressure can be impacted, making each kick different. Students watched in awe as Mad Science did a handful of weather experiments for the New York Red Bulls. It's all about the kids and starting them early. New Jersey is such a hotbed for soccer in general, such a big history. We cater to around 45,000 boys and girls ages 3 through 18. We're in around 120 communities in the tri-state area and the fun for the family keeps going this Saturday at the Kids' Day match versus Montreal. You can come to the boulevard early and we'll have a bunch of activations on the boulevard catered to the kids, so it's all about the kids. We have face painting, roaming glitter artists. We have balloon art. We have photo booths, and then even in. show at the crossbar. So once you get in after the boulevard, the game will be completely run by the children. So we have a kid PA announcer, a kid host, a kid DJ who'll be rocking in at halftime, and a kid national anthem singer, of course. Summer-like vibe on Jenkinson’s Boardwalk on Easter weekend

Today's warm weather sent many people outside, and for some that meant a day at the shore in April. News 12 New Jersey's Amanda Eustace has more from Point Pleasant. Shorts and tank tops. It's a sight many haven't seen since last summer. But along Jenkins' boardwalk here in Point Pleasant, they made their grand debut. The warmer weather brought hundreds of people out to enjoy the day. The rides are open. All the games on the boardwalk foods. So everyone's excited to get back out on the boardwalk, including this family from Morganville. We do this every year. It's our favorite time of the year. We bulk up for all the tickets and the rides, and we literally have so much fun on the boardwalk. Did you guys go on any rides? Yeah. But people aren't the only ones excited about the warmer weather, so are businesses right here on the boardwalk who say they're able to start their season just a little bit earlier. The weather's beautiful out right now. It's spring break for the area and for the locals. We're open every day. There's bands and music on the weekends. The weather's beautiful, so we're excited about it. We're excited. We're glad to see people out here and the activities continue for spring breakers and those looking for some Easter fun. We can't ask for better weather this weekend. We have our annual Easter sale. We have lots of events going on. Our big Easter parade is tomorrow. We have bunny lunch.
