A possible New Jersey Transit strike could impact service to and from MetLife Stadium.
NJ Transit posted on social media Monday afternoon that the potential strike will impact the upcoming Shakira concerts on May 15 and 16.
“Due to the potential rail service stoppage, NJ TRANSIT will not be operating train or bus service to MetLife Stadium for the Shakira concerts on May 15th and 16th,” the agency posted on X, adding that those with tickets to the concert should visit the
MetLife Stadium website for more information.
A spokesperson for the stadium says that they are focused on the Shakira concert for the time being. The spokesperson said that should the upcoming Beyonce concerts that begin on May 22 be affected by a potential strike, then a new contingency plan will be put into place.
NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen met in Washington, D.C. on Monday with federal mediators to discuss the contract dispute. The union is calling for higher salaries for the engineers.
The union has vowed to go on strike by May 16 if a deal is not met.
