A fiery single-car crash early Sunday morning in Bethpage killed three people inside the vehicle, Nassau police say.
Detectives say a 2022 Dodge Durango was driving east on Stymus Avenue near Carol Drive when it struck a tree and caught fire around 1 a.m.
A neighbor told News 12 that she heard the crash.
"I ran, and all you could see is that car totaled, and it was just destroyed," said Angela Signoriello, of Bethpage.
Nassau police still had Plainview Road closed later in the morning, diverting traffic. It has since reopened.
Neighbors say the area near Plainview Road can be dangerous for drivers and that crashes happen too often.
"It's a blind turn. I've been involved in accidents because of it. Several of the residents have been involved in accidents because of it," said Chris Theo, of Bethpage.
Police have not named the three who were killed. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Friends of the three victims were the scene Sunday, mourning their loss.
