All lanes reopened on the Meadowbrook State Parkway Sunday evening after a drawbridge malfunction due to extreme heat caused a traffic backup for hours. New York State Police initially closed the Meadowbrook northbound at the Jones Bay Bridge. State troopers temporarily redirected traffic while New York State Department of Transportation mechanics resolved the issue. Traffic was diverted from the Ocean State Parkway westbound to Ocean State Parkway eastbound at the last U-turn right before the bend starts to head up the Meadowbrook. Bay Parkway traffic was also closed at the Meadowbrook northbound ramp and was sent eastbound on either side of the parkway or the Ocean State Parkway eastbound.
